79th CRPF Raising Day observed

The 79th Raising Day of CRPF was observed with great enthusiasm today at Group centre, CRPF Langjing, Imphal.
Rajesh Kumar, IGP Manipur & Nagaland Sector along with senior officers of CRPF paid homage to martyrs, who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, at Martyr's Memorial GC, Imphal.
He took guard of honour at Quarter Guard, conveyed a press release issued by PRO, GC CRPF Langjing Imphal.
Sainik Samelan was also held by the IGP at auditorium GC Imphal at around 10.30 am.
DG Disc/commendation certificates were also distributed to officers and men of this force for their commendable duty.
A friendly football match was played between CRPF team and football club Malom later in the afternoon.
Mohender Kumar, DIG, M&N Sector, I Lokendra Singh, DIG, GC Imphal Brig (R) SK Sharma, DIG Range Imphal, Dr HC Lingaraj, DIG (medical), CH Imphal, commandants and officers, subordinate officers and jawans were also present.
This force was first established as Crown Representative Police (CRP) on July 27 by the then British regime in India, at Madhya Pradesh.
It was later named Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) after independence by an act of parliament on December 28, 1949 .
