ANSAM endorses NESO stand

The All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) will fully endorse the Naga Students Federation (NSF) in carrying out a protest rally from the NSF office in Kohima to Raj Bhavan on Friday in connection with the North East Students Organisation (NESO) resolutions adopted sometimes back pertaining to the burning issues of the North East region.
The NESO had submitted 'seven-point charters of demand' to the Prime Minister of India in October last year.
The 'seven point charters of demand' include Education Policy and Human Resources Development for the North East Region by setting up a "Special Education Commission" and to establish Advanced Research Centres, Technical and Medical colleges, Vocational Institutes and Coaching Centres for Civil Services; Repeal of impunitive Legislations such as Arm Forces Special Powers Act 1958 and to expedite the ongoing Peace Process for an early negotiated settlement in all parts of NE Region; A comprehensive and proactive Policy on the Infiltration of Illegal Immigrants, Refugees in the NE region; To institute a Special Commission for framing a sustainable Eco-system and Action plan on Economic and Infrastructural Development and Environmental concern; Employment Policy for North East by instituting "National Commission" for North east to study the nature, causes and consequences of unemployment problems of youths and to make North East a special employment zone; To set up a"Common Boundary Commission" for early amicable settlement on the Inter-State Boundary Issue in the NE Region and; To Grant a Special Constitutional Status and Separate Time Zone for NE Region.
It can be noted that NESO had held a protest rally in this regard in Guwahati on May 29 this year.
