Tamenglong public wary of factional killings

Tamenglong, June 28 2012:
With an aim to maintain peace and harmony in Tamenglong district, a public emergency meeting was held under the joint aegis of various frontal organizations of the district at Tamenglong bazaar shed here this afternoon.
After a serious deliberation, the meeting resolved not to tolerate any factional killings in Zeliangrong areas.
The emergency meeting also adopted a number of resolutions for maintaining peace and harmony in the district.
Appealing to all the factions not to clash among each other, the meeting resolved not to support any group who violate the decision of the public.
Violation of human rights in Zeliangrong areas must stopp immediately by any faction or group.
And any national worker, whosoever associate with arms, must not mingle with public in order to avoid further loss of precious innocent life, another resolution of the meeting stated.
The meeting maintained that all factions operating in Zeliangrong Region should operate in accordance to the peace agreement signed by them.
It may be noted here that before formation of Zeliangrong United Front/ Zeliangrong Tiger Force, Naga national workers of NNC, NSCN: K and NSCN: IM of the Zeliangrong region first signed a peace agreement on 16 April 2010 at Puiluan (Kambiron) village to stop factional and fratricidal killing, to stop engaging in armed operation against one another and to maintain status quo by all parties in respect of area of domination.
The emergency meeting also resolved that any faction form or establish in Zeliangrong areas must come under the binding of the peace agreement framed by Zeliangrong Elders Forum for Peace Broker (Chaguat Phuam) .
Any faction responsible for the loss of life of innocent civilians shall be imposed fine.
Furthermore, the meeting contended that area of operation designated by peace forum must be strictly observed in true spirit and any kind of bandh, curfew or restriction should not be imposing upon the public without proper reasons or causes against the wishes of the public.
The public emergency meeting demanded withdrawing of public curfew being imposed by NSCN: K in Tamenglong town from today.
Another resolution adopted in the meeting said that threatening of Bhalok (Phalong) and Haochong villagers by NSCN: K is totally condemnable.
During the meeting, movement of vehicles at Town area was restricted and all shops and markets remained shut down.
Thousands of people from across Tamenglong district participated the public emergency meeting.
