Imphal, July 26 2013 :
In continued protest against the decision of the State Cabinet to take over Royal Palace, the 34th meeting to safeguard the Royal Palace (Sana Konung) was held today at Chongabon, Sana Konung.
Today, volunteers of Nepra Menjor Pukhri Mapal Women Voluntary Organisation and Sana konung Semgat Sagat Lup carried forward the protest session.
Speaking on the occasion, H Sanahanbi, President of Nepra Menjor Pukhri Mapal Women Voluntary Organisation stated that the decision of the State Cabinet to take over Sana Konung was very unfortunate and unacceptable.

She pointed out that the King of Manipur still resides in the Royal Palace and as such the State Government cannot turn a living Palace into a monument.
Sanahanbi further stated that the Government can, no doubt, develop Sana Konung but it cannot convert it into a monument by driving away the king from the Palace.
The King has been performing all customary rites and rituals in the Royal Palace since ancient times.
The State Government should discuss and consider all the historical events of the State related with the Sana Konung before any decision to take over it in the name of developing it, Sanahanbi added.
