Andro AC still to get February ration under NFSA: UPAAK

The rice quota for the month of February meant to be distributed to the beneficiaries of Andro AC under National Food Security Act (NFSA) has not been distributed yet and if it is not distributed by May 3, democratic form of protests will be launched.
Md Phakharuddin, president, United Progressive Association Andro Kendra (UPAAK) said this at a press conference held today at Yairipok and added that the ration for the month of January and March were distributed to the locals of Andro in time.
However, for the month of February has not been distributed nor there is any news on the whereabouts of the same.
He added that the issue was raised in written to DSO Imphal East but no reply other than oral reply that the rice quota for the month of February has already been released.
However there is no information on who has taken the quota which is about 239000 kgs, that amounts to about Rs 47.80 lakh in the market, he added.
Md Phakharuddin also reiterated that last year too only 9 months of ration were distributed while the remaining 3 have been lost to unknowns.
UPAAK therefore appealed the relevant authority to ensure that the ration meant for the month of February is distributed to the locals by May 3, failure to heed to the demand will invite democratic form of protest by UPAAK with support from the public.
