Private Schools' Day observed

Imphal, August 19 2013:
The 8th Private Schools' Day was observed by All Manipur Recognized Private Schools' Welfare Association at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound here today.
The observance was attended by Additional Secretary of Higher and Technical Education Kh Raghumani as Chief Guest and President of All Manipur Recognized Private Schools' Welfare Association Ph Landhoni as President, while Chairman of Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) Dr Hamom Nabachandra as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Secretary Raghumani said that the private schools play a vital role in imparting quality education to students up to Class 12 standard.
The government schools are far behind the private schools, he noted.
He further said that certain welfare measures must be taken up for the teachers of private schools who are paid very little as compared to the government teachers.
Chairman of COHSEM Dr Nabachandra said that steps have been taken up to rectify the loopholes in grading system of Higher Secondary Examination.
Meritorious students and founder members of the association were also felicitated during the observance.
