MSCP pledges to legislate Highway Protection Act

The Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) has come up with its election manifesto in connection with the ensuing 10th Manipur State Legislative Assembly election scheduled on January 28, pledging to legislate the Manipur Highway Protection Force to effectively counter and control the menace of economic blockade in the state.
The election manifesto was released by Y Mani, President, MSCP at its office at Palace Compound today.
Stating that the manifesto represents the strong and honest desire of the party to build up a body polity in which the diverse aspirations of the different indigenous communities in the state could be fulfilled, the manifesto says that the party will work to build up a socially, economically, politically and developmentally integrated Manipur.
It will take a firm and resolute initiative to find a lasting and permanent solution to settle the armed conflicts.
Pointing out that the AFSPA which was extended in the state to curve insurgency has resulted in large scale human rights violations and has also generated feeling of distrust and fear among the people of the state, the manifesto promises to use all the strength of the party in the legislative assembly to remove AFSPA from the state under all circumstances.
Coming down to the economic reforms in the state, the party in its manifesto has committed to establish District Agricultural and Horticultural Institutes, development of a Special Economic Zone in an around Moreh town and Kwatha village.
It also promised to establish tea processing training centres, restructuring of State Industrial Policy, promotion of technology supported vacation around Loktak Lake.
The manifesto also assures establishment of 'Manipur Road and Bridges Construction Corporation' to facilitate construction of roads and bridges, application of advanced technology and to enable mobilizes resources independently for construction of important and strategic highways.
On the issues of educational policy in the state, the MSCP pledges to frame a policy to regulate minimum qualification and salary for private school teachers and also to provide free schooling, free books upto matriculation for students from BPL families and scholarships for bright students upto 12 standard.
The party also promises to formulate a futuristic Youth Development Programme under the Youth Welfare Policy and also to introduce a Women Welfare Policy and Arts and Culture Policy.
Apart from this it also mentions to provide free medicine and treatments in government hospitals.
