Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary P Saratchandra has provided various assistances including paddy rice from his own granary to the Covid-19 affected families in Heingang AC.
He began his humanitarian service from June 4 and concluded on Sunday.
During this period, he distributed different relief materials such as sugar, besan, vegetable oil, tea leaves, salt, papad, biscuits and local rice variety from his own granary.
On the last day, he provided these items to several households in Kairang Muslim area on Sunday.
In a video released to media, Saratchandra said that he took up the service to help the public, who have been facing difficulties due to Covid-19 pandemic and related restrictions.
The central government is providing rice under NFSA and PMGKAY schemes to the public but the quantity is not adequate to last one month.
Keeping in view of the situation, he urged the state government to take up a special initiative for providing healthy foods to the public.
In this crisis period, the priority should be given to protecting lives and development works can wait, he said.
