Imphal, June 13 2021:
Bharatiya Infra Project Limited (BIPL) has managed to clear part of the landslide that occurred at Nung Dalal area near Sibilong village along Imphal-Jiri route by 5pm Sunday, allowing four-wheelers and other light vehicles to pass through.
However, heavy vehicles including trucks may have to wait a day to access the route.
Due to the landslide which occurred round 8pm on Saturday, many vehicles on both sides of the highway have remained stranded.
As such, National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) sought BIPL's help, following which the company dispatched its available machineries and had been working to clear the debris from early hours of Sunday.
According to an official of BIPL, Imphal-Jiri route is an important road of the state and any prolonged obstruction is heavily felt by the state.
Thus, the company began clearing the debris from Sunday morning and was able to clear part of the highway by 5 pm allowing small light vehicles to pass through.
However, for some of the debris which included huge boulders, a simple excavator is not powerful enough.
Nonetheless, bigger machineries will be used to clear all of the debris by Monday to allow access for trucks and other heavy vehicles.
