Moreh CSOs say no to transfer, threaten general strike

The CSOs in Moreh have condemned the transfer order of SDPO Moreh, Lawrence Khen Munlou which was issued by Director General of Police yesterday.
Speaking at a press meet held at Hill Tribal Council Moreh today, president of the Council Joseph Ginkhosei Lhungdim said that the CSOs in Moreh including Kuki Students' Organisation, Moreh, Kuki Women Union & Human Rights and Hill Tribal Council are strongly against the transfer of SDPO Lawrence and urged the authority concerned to revoke the transfer order, considering the interest of the people.
He cautioned that the CSOs will call general strike and launch other stringent form of agitations at different areas including Imphal-Moreh road, if the transfer order is not revoked before 2 pm tomorrow.
He further warned that the Government shall bear responsibility of any unwanted incident.
Hill Tribal Council president Joseph Ginkhosei, Kuki Student Organisation Moreh secretary Lunminlal Haokip and Kuki Women Union and Human Rights vice president Thethem Vaiphei were present during the press meet.
Meanwhile, a memorandum was submitted to the Director General of Police by the CSOs of Moreh yesterday.
The memorandum stated that the people of Moreh are aware of some police personnel who have been posted at Moreh were not transferred, despite their sojourn.
The memorandum signed by HTC Moreh president, KWU & HR president and KSO Moreh vice president further stated that ever since Lawrence was transferred to Moreh as the SDPO, peace and harmony prevailed among different communities in Moreh while adding that he was transferred to Moreh hardly a year ago.
