Jennifer to represent state in Natl Science Seminar

Under the aegis of the Science Unit, Department of Education (S), the 34th State Level Students Science Seminar, 2012 was held under the theme "Mathematics in India: Past, Present and Future" at the conference hall of DM College of Commerce here today.
After a grueling competition among the 28 participants who have come from various schools of the state, Kimnuntluangi Jennifer, a student of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Churachandpur, was declared winner of the state level seminar.
Consequently, she would be representing Manipur in the National Science Seminar to be held at Kolkata on October 5 this year.
The inaugural function of the science seminar was presided over by Prof Tombi, former VC of Manipur University while the valediction function was graced by MLA Dr Ng Bijoy and H Deleep, Director of Education (S) as Chief Guest and President respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Dr Ng Bijoy said that Mathematics is essential in our life.
Sports and Arts and Culture which have make known Manipur to the rest of the world, also requires Mathematics.
It is only by applying certain Mathematical formulas that an individual can increase his/her chances of successful in their respective fields.
The topper of the seminar, Kimnuntluangi Jennifer was awarded cash prize of Rs 2,500 along with a memento.
Apart from this, she also receives an incentive award of Rs 5,000 .
The second position holder Nira Sinam was awarded cash prize of Rs 2,000 and a memento.
All the participants were also given consolation prizes of Rs 700 each.
