Imphal, September 27 2012:
Hunphung Young Students' Organisation (THSO) has threatened to go ahead with intense agitations including bandh and blockade if the developmental programmes being taken up in Hunphung village under Ukhrul district, including construction of Hospitals and roads are not completed by October this year.
Addressing media persons, Isaac Kasom, President of THSO said that the construction of roads from Wungrei junction to Hunphung covering a distance of around 6.6 kms have been done only upto 4.2 kms and the rest left abandoned although the 90% of the total fund of Rs 6 crores sanctioned for the purpose had been withdrawn.
Isaac further informed that construction work on a Hospital in Hunphung at an estimated cost of Rs 24 crores too has been left abandoned after completion of only 30% of the whole construction.
Taking to consideration of the problems being faced by the people, the 50-bedded Hospital should be completed at the earliest, he demanded.
Isaac lamented that construction work on a Sports Complex at an estimated cost of Rs 9.19 crores at Hunphung is also yet to be completed and the construction process has been halted midway.
All these developmental programmes should be completed by October, failing which THSO would be compelled to take recourse to intense agitations with the support of TKS, ANSAM and other CSOs of the state, he warned.
Albist TS, Secretary of THSO was also present at the press conference.
