Various new schemes to be taken up under MI

Considering the problems faced by farmers in the event of deficient rainfall in the state, Minor Irrigation (MI) Department has decided to take up various new schemes in addition to the existing ones.
According to an official source, a DPR is all set to be prepared for taking up various new schemes.
The work proposals of the MLAs and the field findings of the staffs of the department would be also taken into consideration at the time of drafting the DPR.
The final draft, however, would be done by Work Advisory Board, which has been set up by the State Government for the purpose.
The source further informed that the Ministry of Water Resources has issued a new set of guidelines to be followed by the MI in executing its works in July last.
As such, MI will be following the guidelines in preparing the DPR as well as in execution of other works.
As of now the MI department is considering to take up RLI, Pick up wire, Mini Barrage and water storage works, the source disclosed, adding that this help the farmers in case of deficient rainfall in future.
