'Appoint more ROs, EROs'

The State Government has begun to take up necessary steps to appoint more Returning Officers and EROs for the State Assembly election likely to be held in the early part of next year following a directive which came from the Election Commission of India today.
A reliable source said that the State currently has only 21 ROs.
The Election Commission of India had directed the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur to appoint more ROs and EROs as the ROs are no more permissible to handle the affairs of more than two Assembly Constituencies, the source said.
Stating that the State would now have over 30 ROs, the source said that relevant proposals on the matter would be submitted to the Election Commission on Monday.
CCTV recording, webcasting,VVPAT and videography would be compulsorily done at 2794 polling stations as per the instruction of the Election Commission, the source said.
