Speaking at the programme, Aribam Shyam stated older people start suffering from various ailments and health problems which young people are not familiar with.
However, that should not stop them from taking care of their parents or elders.
"Everyone of us will get old one day.
Just as how we like to be treated with love and care, our parents and elders also want the same," he said.
Prof Dr RK Lenin Singh said that World Alzheimer's Day is being observed annually and the theme keeps changing every year in order to spread awareness across the world.
"There are 45 million older people across the world who are suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
Just because our parents and elders have aged, we should not forget their unconditional love.
It is at this time that we show our gratefulness and love by taking good care of them," Dr RK Lenin said.
