Topper brings together Chief Minister and 30 MLAs of different political parties

Imphal, June 14 2012: In one of the rarest occasions in the history of Manipur, one could witness the meeting of the Chief Minister and 30 other MLAs of different political parties outside the Assembly and away from state functions today.

The Chief Minster and 30 MLAs of different political parties got together jostling for space at Zenith Academy on the occasion of a felicitation function hosted in honour of Md Ismat, who topped the CBSE (AISSCE), 2012 .

The function was attended by Speaker Kh Lokeshwar; Agriculture Minister Abdul Nasir; MLA Fajur Rehman of Wabgai A/C; MLA Y Surchandra of Kakching A/C; MLA Dr I Ibohalbi of Oinam A/C; MLA Mk Preshaw Shimray of Chingai A/C; MLA K Meghachandra of Wangkhem A/C; MLA Chaltolean Amo of Tipaimukh A/C; MLA O Lukhoi of Wangoi A/C; MLA Nunghlung Victor of Chandel A/C; Yamthong Haokip of Saikul A/C; MLA Ng Bijoy of Khurai A/C; MLA Dr Alexander Pao of Karong A/C; MLA Nemcha Kipgen of Kangpokpi A/C; MLA L Dikho of Mao A/C; MLA Th Bisorkit of Thongju A/C; MLA P Brojen of Wangjing Tentha A/C; MLA Janghemlung Panmei of Tamenglong A/C; MLA K Thamarjit of Keirao A/C; MLA W Brajabidhu of Lamshang A/C; MLA Rk Imo of Sagolband A/C; MLA E Chand of Yaiskul A/C; MLA L Nandakumar of Uripok A/C; MLA S Bira of Kumbi A/C and MLA L Ibomcha of Keishamthong A/C .

All the MLAs and Ministers sat together irrespective of who is in Ruling or Opposition.

No protocol was also maintained, as would have been noticed in any other state functions or the Assembly sessions.

All the MLAs present on the occasion contributed Rs 5000 each from their salary and presented to Md Ismat.

It may be mentioned that the State government also felicitates the toppers of Matric and Class XII exam conducted by the Manipur Board and Council respectively every year.

But on no occasion, the people have seen 30 MLAs ever getting together as was seen today.
