Committee demands loan waiver

All Manipur Selected SEGP Beneficiaries Committee 2013 has appealed complete waiver of loans under Special Employment Generation Programme from the Government today.
The committee in its statement sought the attention of the Government that the beneficiaries have been hit hard by the recent flood and other calamities in the State and are unable to repay their loans.
People who have availed loans under the SEGP with hope that it will elevate and grow their income have been devastated by the natural calamities, said the statement of the committee and urged the Chif Minister to consider their plea and waive off the loans.
The committee showed its concerned that the Government had decided to waive off loans which are under Rs One lakh only in view of the recent natural calamities.
Those who have avail loan of over Rs 1 lakh have also suffered in the natural calamities, said the statement and informed the Government that in other States like Gujarat, Madhya Paradesh and Uttar Pradesh, the Governments had waived off loans worth crores of rupees at times like this.
Meanwhile, the committee has informed that it will submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister seeking loan waiver soon.
It has invited loanees/beneficiaries of SEGP to submit concerned copies of documents to the office of the committee at Room No 27, Orient Hotel.
