Barak Bridge damaged once again; may take one month to repair

The Barak Bridge along the National Highway 37 is once again in news.
It has been reported that on Tuesday afternoon around 12.30, a 600 cement bags loaded 12 wheeler truck weighing around 40 tons was crossing the bridge when it damaged the middle part.
The driver of the truck has been identified as Amu while Kiyamudin from Kwakta being the owner of the truck.
It may be mentioned that drivers along the highway have been warned from time to time by the authorities not to carry load above 24 tons while crossing the bridge.
Due to the damage to the bridge on Tuesday, over 100 loaded vehicles have also been reported to be stranded along the highway.
It may also be recalled that Barak Bridge was tilted on one side after a full loaded truck passed through the bridge on July 26 last.
The authorities completed the repairing and the transportation on the bridge was resumed on August 12.Meanwhile, sources informed that it will take at east one month to repair the bridge again.
