Imphal, July 22 2015 :
Wahong Challou Village under Jessami sub division bordering Nagaland and Myanmar needs to be developed, according to the dissatisfied villagers.
Due to the non-construction of a bridge across the Wahong Challou River and roads in the area, the opportunity for developing cross border tourism between Manipur and Myanmar is becoming a far cry.
The villagers also said that since Nagaland is also bordering Myanmar, they might take a step forward and connect with the Myanmar counterpart.
The villagers pointed out that they have been travelling along the bad and bumpy roads where only trucks could pass and there is no primary health centre or post office in the area.
It is also learnt that during rainy season the road meant for trucks only remain flooded and a sick patient has to spend an amount of not less than Rs 10,000 for going to and from Ukhrul.
If a patient has to reach Imphal, the expense escalates, said one of the villager AS Rashim.
He also exhorted the Government to pay attention to the village development.
He explained that Imphal is 200 km from Wahong whereas the nearest township in Myanmar is 18 km away and Nagaland just 25 km.
The villagers want a bridge over the Wahong Challou river.
They also demanded construction of roads in the area, a primary health centre and a post office.
