UKAL to launch stir against Govindajee Temple Board Bill

Lamenting that the Government has not given any response despite several civil society organizations including Umang Lai Kanba Lup (UKAL) demanding to revoke Shri Govindajee Temple (Third Amendment) 2014 Bill passed on July 25 last under which Umang Lais have been placed under Govindajee Temple Board, UKAL is all set to launch different forms of intense agitations from Sep 11 till the bill is revoked.
Addressing a press meet in this regard at Lainingthou Awangba Shanglen at Khurai Thangjam Leikai, Chana Lukhoi, renowned writer and Meitei wari liba said that umang lai, lainingthou and lairembi temples in different parts of the State including the sacred Awang Koubru Laiphamlen at Sekmai have been visited and sought blessings in connection with the proposed agitation.
He appealed to the people to extend support to his fast unto death stir against the bill to be started from Sep 11 .
M Jilangamba, general secretary of UKAL said that prior to the fast unto death stir of Chana Lukhoi, a sit-in-protest will be staged at Keishampat Lairembi Shanglen on September 11 during which course of the proposed agitation will be discussed and added that a memorandum was already submitted each to PM, Governor and CM of the State urging them to revoke the bill within September 10 .
