Imphal, December 07 2018:
A committee which would facilitate settlement of inter-State and inter-village boundary disputes at Tungj oy village and Dzuko valley and other areas of the State which share boundary with Nagaland has been constituted with PHED Minister L Dikho as Chairman.
Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu issued an order to this effect today.
Additional Chief Secretary (TA&Hills) is the convenor of the 11-member committee whose members include Revenue Minister Karam Shyam and TA & Hills MinisterN Kayisii.
Revenue Administrative Secretary, Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of Ukhrul and Senapati districts, social worker PT Arhai of Tungjoy village and Mao Council president Peter Khrasi are the other members of the committee.
Notably, there are boundary disputes at Dzuko, Tungjoy and Jessami with neighbouring villages of Nagaland.
There have been incidents of violent confrontation between neighbouring villages of Nagaland and Manipur over boundary dispute in the past.
Moreover, a team of mountaineers which went on an expedition to Dzuko valley as a part of the Manipur Sangai Festival 2018 were arrested by Nagaland Police.
