Imphal, September 27 2012:
In a twist to the reported news on assault of T.Robert, former General Secretary of All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) by the owner of "Ching Tam" rice hotel at North AOC in Imphal on September 13 evening, the owner of the hotel, Khaidem Sarat has refuted the charges leveled against him.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, the hotel owner claimed that it was neither an "assault" nor an "attempt to murder" as projected by T.Robert saying that the victim has been trying hard to project the incident in the wrong light by hurling false allegations and narrating to the public a fairy tale like story while hiding the root cause of the incident but admitted that the unruly conduct of T.Robert had led to a minor scuffle.
Narrating the incident, K.Sarat said, " T.Robert was fully drunk on that day.
His friend called Zimik asked me for a pen, consequently I gave him the pen but T.Robert meanwhile ordered that if the pen was given, a note pad should also be given which I subsequently gave a note pad too.
When I came back after a while he threw at my face the pen and the note pad saying 'do you know who I am?' and pushed me, in the process he hit me at my nose.
Then I also responded, which led to a minor scuffle between me and T.Robert" .
Calling the incident as unfortunate, the hotel owner stated that the incident was a quarrel between two individuals, a petty matter that very often happen in every society out of anger and unruly conduct adding that T.Robert's friend Zimik was the key witness to the incident.
Referring that the incident has given a communal tone, he appealed to the "fellow brothers, elders and sisters" not to believe in one sided story and urged the concern authorities to find out without any bias the reason leading to the quarrel.
