KSO Sadar Hills calls 24 hr strike

The Kuki Students' Organization Sadar Hills has called 24 hr strike from midnight of May 6.This is protest against the Moidangpok incident and allotment of land for Cultural University allegedly at L Tangnaum village under Saitu-Gamphazol Sub Division of Sadar Hills.
If the government does not address the issues indefinite economic blockade is likely.
Thangminlen Kipgen, President KSO Sadar Hills said that the beating up of a driver was done by New Keithelmanbi Development Association .
The driver, Paokhongam Kipgen was severely beaten and his vehicle torched.
The police who arrived at Moidangpok tried to escort the driver and his van to safety.
When they reached Moidangpok the people there attacked the van thrashed him in front of the police personnel.
Alleging that the whole incident was a plan to kill the chief of Lalhoiphai village Thangminlen Kipgen said that if Lalhoiphai village chief was in the van he would have been killed.
He also was not happy with the police inaction.
The KSO is demanding transfer of the police officers and disbanding the New Keithelmanbi Development Association.
These should be acceded within 3 days.
Meanwhile, KSO Sadar Hills also objected to the allotment of land for Cultural University at L.Tangnaum under Saitu-Gamphazol block of Sadar Hills claiming the land to be of Koutruk village under Lamsang Sub Division of Imphal West.
It is earlier known as Haraothel under Saitu-Gamphazol Sub Division in Sadar Hills and the people of Sadar Hills will never allow the Government to possess it.
