In a major blow to the Kangleipak Communist Party-Military Council (KCP-MC), a proscribed outfit of Manipur, troops of 57 Mountain Division on Saturday arrested its self styled commander-in-Chief and leader of the outfit, Rajen Singh alias Rajesh @ KC Lanheiba Meitei from his house in Aizawl, Mizoram.
A press statement by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Defence Wing of the government of India informed that Lanheiba, the C-in-C of the outfit was arrested in a meticulously planned and well coordinated operation under the code name "OP GRAND SLAM II" coordinated by the GOC 57 Mountain Division and conducted by a joint team of the 57 Mountain Division, Mizoram police and Manipur police following a tip off provided by the 57 Mountain Division.
Informing that KC Lanheiba Meitei had been taking shelter in his house at Aizawl for quite some time, the press statement added that on receiving of this information from own sources, a joint team consisting of officials of 57 Mountain Division and Manipur Police were dispatched to Aizawl on February 8, 2009 and has since been keeping an eye on the house of the C-in-C of the outfit.
The press statement of the PIB also informed that Rajen Singh alias Rajesh alias Lanheiba Meitei, after interrogation, confirmed himself to be the 'self-style' C-in-C of the banned KCP outfit.
Asserting that Lanheiba has been involved in a number of extortions and was in the mostwanted list of the KCP hierarchy, the PIB statement informed that he was arrested on two occasions earlier but always found a way out.
He has been kept under Mizoram police custody for further interrogation, added the press statement and called upon the 'peace loving people' of the state of Manipur not to fear the said outfit anymore.
