Imphal, July 21 2013:
Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong(TKS) has announced that it would not give free passage to heavy vehicles along National Highway 150 stretching from Jessami via Ukhrul Imphal road until and unless the sub-standard road has been maintained properly at the earliest.
In a statement jointly signed by its President Yangmi Khapai and General Secretary Mahirah Raihing, TKS said that it is sad to learnt that National Highway 150 has emerged as the alternative for heavy vehicles transporting essential commodities to the state in the wake of a sinking of NH-2 near Kohima.
The road from Jessami to Ukhrul needs immediate repair as most of the portions is either damage or sink partly in many areas.
Also the road is too small with many curves and turning which need to be expanded at the earliest for free vehicular movement.
Untill such remedies are taken in consideration by the government, TKS will be compelled to block the road to heavy vehicles for used as it will deteriorate the road further.
