Steps taken up to prevent use of demonetised notes during polls

The Election Commission has developed a comprehensive strategy to prevent use of demonetised currency notes in the upcoming 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly polls.
According to a source, the Election Commission has already taken up different measures and steps to prevent candidates and would be candidates from using demonetised currency notes in the forthcoming election.
Election Commission and Manipur Chief Electoral Officer, VK Dewangan, in a meting today, discussed various aspects of the upcoming polls and probable use of the demonetised notes, it added.
According to the source, most of the assembly constituencies will be equipped with VVPAT and the Booth Level Officers (BLO) would be made acquainted with an application called BLO Net.
The poll date would most likely be announced at the end of this month or the beginning of next month and the polling would likely take place during the second week of January next year, it added.
All the polling stations would be web cast either online or offline, depending on the location.
