BJP's 'Ache din' hype has backfired: Gaikhangam

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has berated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday, saying the "acche din" hype has boomeranged even after completion of one year of the NDA Government at the Centre.
Participating in the MPCC State Council Mahila Meet 2015 at Congress office here, Gaikhangam continued taking a dig at BJP and said the saffron party has been announcing a slew of development projects for the North East only in words.
"The ruling BJP has not been able to materialize its promises into action.
The BJP Government has been continuously slicing fund amount for development of the NE region instead," said Gaikhangam who is also the president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) .
The MPCC chief accused the BJP of reducing the MGNRES fund every now and then and called the NDA administration as an anti-people Government.
"The Central Government has also been trying hard to make the controversial Land Acquisition Bill an Act, which will cause untold misery to the common man," he said.
Gaikhangam said people must oppose this Bill tooth and nail.
He added that though the BJP Government has been telling people of NE it will develop and promote tourism sector of the region, it has not allocated adequate budget for the purpose.
Gaikhangam, meanwhile, announced that among the Congress ticket aspirants for the ensuing Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections, only two are women and emphasized the importance of women's participation in politics.
Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress president RK Ranisana, All India Mahila Congress president Shobha Oza, general secretary Jarsum Ete, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai, MLA O Landhoni and MPCC Mahila in-charge MLA D Korungthang were also present in the function.
