Imphal, February 25 2012:
The leaders of Indian National Congress (INC) have expressed confidence that the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh led SPF government would return to power for the third term in Manipur, exclaimed Thangso Baite, Lok Sabha, MP.
In a tete a tete with Hueiyen Lanpao, Thangso Vaite said that the people of the state have trusted the Congress and let the Chief Minister Ibobi Singh led SPF government to serve them for the last 10 years.
The Chief Minister is contesting in the 10th Manipur State Legislative Assembly Election and if the people of the state still have faith on him, consequently, the Centre would certainly have faith on Ibobi and would do the needful, the MP observed.
He disclosed that in a recent meeting of all Congress MPs to discuss the strength of Congress in different states of India, President of AICC and Chairperson of UPA Government Sonia Gandhi mentioned that the Congress led government in Manipur under the leadership of O Ibobi would come up once again in the state.
He also stated among the 28 candidates fielded in the Outer Parliamentary Constituencies of the state, at least 18 candidates would emerge successful.
With that, altogether 25 congress candidates would succeed in the election and the party would emerge as the single largest party, if not absolute majority.
He further pointed out that Manipur is the first state where the photographs of the electorates were taken.
So, it is but natural for the Observers, ROs and Polling Officers to face problems.
But re-poll cannot be done again and again, he observed.
