20th Kargil war commemoration continues

Imphal, July 23 2019:
Proceeding the commemoration of the 20th Kargil War (Operation Vijay), various programmes and events were organized at different locations of the State under IGAR (S) today.
Mantripukhri Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles organised an Educational and Patriotic event on Kargil War at Sainik School, Imphal.
An inspirational lecture was held during which the students of the school were informed about the saga of the war.

The students were enlightened on the bravery and sacrifices made by the soldiers of the Indian Army who fought the war against Pakistani intruders at Kargil, Dras and Batalik Sub Sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.
A short movie on Kargil War was screened followed by an interactive session for the students.
Tulihal Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles organised a function at UNACCO School, Maitram to celebrate the Kargil victory.
A short documentary film was also screened for the students to understand how the Indian Army fought and won the war against all odds.
The event included an exhibition of weapons and equipment.
Various patriotic songs were played and photographs of the Kargil war were also displayed.
Over 1300 students and staff of the schools attended the function.
Meanwhile, Somsai Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles organised Vijay Diwas Quiz Competition at Somsai in which 75 students from five schools of Ukhrul district participated.
The event was enthusiastically participated by students wherein questions related to war heroes, historical events and battles fought during Operation Vijay were asked.
Prizes of the competition were also distributed.
Chandel Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles organized a motivational lecture for the students of St Paul's School, Pallel.
A documentary film on Kargil War was shown to the students and inquiries were answered about joining armed forces.
Students and teachers of St Paul's School expressed their gratitude and appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles for conduct of such motivational lecture.
