Ningthoujam Lanngamba, with the help of his father N Kiran of Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai, have successfully produced LED bulbs, with two years warranty for consumers, under the name LN Enterprises.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Lanngamba maintained that he bought raw materials from a company in Delhi to make the LED bulb with his father.
After completing graduation, he received hands-on training for some months at NIELIT on making set top boxes for ISTV.
He also took part in a three month training on making LED bulb in 2018, under NIELIT on Solar LED Lighting Production (Design and Manufacturing) Skill Development in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) for digital India, under the aegis of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, GoI.
After receiving necessary training, he purchased Rs 10,000 worth raw materials and started making his version of LED bulbs, which takes only 5 minutes to make, he added.
Lanngamba said that 200-300 LED bulbs are produced in a day while adding that he imprints his logo (LN Lighting) on the bulbs.
Talking more about the bulbs, he mentioned that the rate of LED bulbs with power from 3W to 9W is Rs 110 while the price of LED bulb with power ranging from 12W to 15W ranges from Rs 250 to Rs 300 .
Meanwhile, the rate of bulb with 18W is Rs 3500, he added.
The said bulbs are sold in the locality and in bulk to the owner of a garden (which is located on the south side of his village) .
Saying that he has sold more than 1000 bulbs till date, Lanngamba added that the bulbs have two years warranty.
He further stated that he has not received any complaints till date about the LED bulbs, which have been purchased as they don't have any defects.
Apart from the LED bulbs, he mentioned that he has been able to manufacture UV LED bulbs (which is rated at 9W and costs Rs 350) .
Conveying that even though free and affordable LED bulbs are provided under Ujala scheme, he said that the bulbs have only one year warranty and at times people even bring the bulbs to him for repair.
Lanngamba claimed that he even modified the Ujala bulbs into brand new conditions, giving the consumers two years warranty.
He then lamented that he has not received any kind of aid from the Government.
On the other hand, Lanngamba's father N Kiran said that he has received training at the three months training programme on 'LED Light repair technician' at NIELIT under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, GoI and National Skill Development Corporation.
Instead of using imported products, the unemployed youths of the State can also explore many skill development programmes and take up work by themselves for the betterment of the
State's economy.
