Committee seeks public, expert's insight before border pillar survey

Prior to the Indo-Myanmar border survey by a team of experts from Survey of India on July 18, as claimed by the Chief Minister, Committee on Protection of Indo Myanmar border Land Manipur has sought valuable insights and suggestions from different experts in order to find out the truth concerning the issue of BP 81 near Kwatha Khunou.
It appealed to all the experts and intellectuals to provide their views and insights at the office of Information Centre For Hill Areas Manipur (ICHAM) before July 16 so that the resolutions can be submitted to the authorities concerned before the survey.
Speaking to media persons at the office of ICHAM at North AOC, Committee on Protection of Indo Myanmar border Land Manipur convenor, D Solomon, appealed all to extend their maximum support, especially the experts in finding out the actual border pillar of Manipur, when the experts from Survey of India come and conduct necessary survey at the international border.
Solomon further appealed all experts in the State to send their ideas, knowledge, suggestions either in a written format or contact 94366600158 or 8787499170 and 7629942747 before appealed 4 pm of July 16 so that the insights can be submitted to the experts of Survey of India.
In connection with the border fencing issue, the convenor claimed that ICHAM and the committee have, since 2013, stood against fencing at the border area until and unless the zero point document is provided.
He conveyed that, with the Border Pillar 81 issue cropping up, a public meeting was organised by the committee on June 30 at Kanemnam community hall, Machi Block, Tengnoupal district in which chief of 18 villages, CSOs attended.
Following the resolutions adopted during the meeting, the committee met with Chief Minister N Biren on July 9 and submitted a memorandum regarding the Border Pillars from 81 near Kwatha Khunou till BP 95 .
A thorough meeting was held with the CM on that day, he added.
The convenor, as advised by CM to resurvey the BP and submit a concrete and genuine report on the BP, stated that the committee along with ICHAM went to Kwatha Khunou and met with the natives and important people of the area and collected a report.
The CM claimed that the team from Survey of India will reach Manipur within July 18, Solomon said while adding that the committee has compelled to seek insights and assistance from different CSOs and intellectuals so that their knowledge can be included in forming a representation which will be submitted to the authorities concerned.
He further appealed all to consider the gravity of the situation at the border area and provide their valuable insights for the betterment of the people of Manipur.
