Married man elopes with teenage girl, untraced

Imphal, May 09 2011:
A married man has eloped with a teenage girl on May 2 and both the two are not traceable since the day.
The matter came to light when family members of the girl report to the police and enquired the family members of the man.
The married man Sarungbam Umananda son of Raja of Haoreibi Awag Leikai and the girl Konthoujam Heni (16) daughter of Ingocha of Yairipok Angtha Mamang Leikai went to offer prayer to Kaina on May 2.Since the day whereabouts of the two persons remained unknown.
When family members of the girl enquired the matter to the family of the man when his elders did not communicate with them, wife of Umananda told them that he has not returned home since that day.
She also told them that his husband once was beaten and his house ransacked in relation with an incident regarding an affair with a girl.
She also told that he uses drugs.
Police have arrested an uncle of the man in connection with the case and searching for accused Umananda.
Both families appealed to various social organisations and law enforcing agencies to help the two families in searching the two persons.
According to friends of the girl and the man, they knew each other during the last Yaoshang festival in a Thabal Chongba occasion and have been seeing each other.
On May 2 both went to offer prayer at Kaina on a black Yamaha motorbike bearing registration number MN 04-6464 and did not returned since then.
They also keep their mobile phones switch off.
