Imphal, June 04 2021:
Maintaining that the former MLA Okram Henry did not distribute the full allocations of NFSA rice to the beneficiaries and withheld ration cards for long period, Wangkhei MLA Yumkham Erabot said that he will take up necessary steps to bring the ex-MLA to justice.
In a video released to media, MLA Erabot said that the past deeds of the ex-MLA are the main cause of the present crisis of PMGKAY rice that the constituency is facing today.
The number of AAY and PHH beneficiaries got reduced drastically in April from that of March and as such several eligible people are not getting their benefits today.
An additional quantity of 30,130 kg of rice would be required to distribute 5 kg of rice per head, he said.
Erabot also accused the ex-MLA of collecting Rs 100 to Rs 150 from the beneficiaries through FPS agents in the name of card renewal, withholding ration cards, failure to renew cards, providing lesser quantity of rice to the beneficiaries, and misappropriating allocations for several months.
Ningthoujam Menaka, a beneficiary of the constituency, said that she and several other beneficiaries did not get rice and cereals for eight months starting from April 2020 .
Refuting the claim of Henry having distributed full allocations to the beneficiaries, she demanded the former MLA to bring out relevant documents to prove his claim.
She also demanded the ex-MLA to clarify on the amount collected for renewal of ration cards.
