Need verification of placement/recruitment agencies with false promises: Ukhrul DC

A one day district level sensitization programme on Combating Child Trafficking was held at DRDA hall, Mini Secretariat, Ukhrul yesterday to commemorate World day against Human Trafficking under Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav.
The programme organised by the District Child Protection Unit, Ukhrul was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul , Krishna Kumar (IAS) and Superintendent of Police, Ukhrul, Ningshem Vashum (IPS) as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme, DC Krishna Kumar emphasised on the need to remain vigilant from the traffickers who often happen to be linked with someone from the same place of occurrence and need verification of placement agencies who come with false promises.
He also mentioned about the porous border that the district shares with Myanmar where organised crimes are taking placed unabatedly .
He also asserted on creating and organising more such awareness programme at every nook and corner at villages level.
SP Ningshem Vashum highlighted on the statistics and data of such serious crime in the country where the situations is appalling and appealed all the participants from various departments working at grass root level to spread awareness about such illegal activities and make people aware at all levels and report any suspicious activities to the Police department for prompt and necessary actions.
A Wungrieso Shangh (Programme Officer) FXB India Suraksha spoke on Human Trafficking-causes and effect, Kh Sunil Kumar( SDPO, Ukhrul) spoke on Role of Police in combating Child Trafficking while Dennis M Keishing, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Ukhrul spoke on Overview of POCSO Act and Child Rights.
The District level sensitization programme was attended by more than 100 participants from various Government departments particularly Police officials, Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Teachers, ASHA Workers, Anganwadi Workers, Members of Child Welfare Committee and Juvenile Justice Board Ukhrul and officials from District Child Protection Unit and officials from Chile care institutions Ukhrul.
