AMHDCBTA to intensify agitation

Joint Action Committee (JAC) of All Manipur Hill Districts Contract Basis Teachers Association (AMHDCBTA) on Sunday warned that if Government will not consider their demands and remain at a silent mode, the teachers' association has threatened to take up stronger agitations with the support of various students' bodies.
Talking to the Hueiyen Lanpao reporter, the JAC AMHDCBTA Spokesperson HM Saka said the association has taken various forms of agitations to pressurise the Government over regarding their demands.
The association has taken various forms of agitations including banning of all the national projects since April 9 last; 72 hours inter State transport shut down from April 20 and April 23 and again 24 hour state wide general strike on April 27 to 28 .
The contractual teachers are not happy since the Government has not given any positive response.
If the Government continues to ignore the demands of the association it will be compelled to take up stronger froms of agitations with the help of All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM) and Kuki Students' Organisation (KS0).Saka said.
The association also urged the rail way projects companies to stop working and asked them to support the agitation.
The association warned that if rail projects do not cooperate, they will take up various steps and these companies should be blamed for all consequences.
He further said the association had relaxed the agitation in view of the sufferings of the people as a result of the series of strikes and blockades.
But if the Government is still sleeping the teachers' association ready to take stronger agitation.
He also disclosed that Thomas Paomei elected as their Secretary and N Iboncha elected as their co-convener.
It may be noted that AMHDCBTA has been demanding to regularize their services.
They were appointed by the Directorate of Education following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Manipur and different tribal civil society organisations led by the All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM) in 2006 .
