No lack of fund for RIMS: Panda

Fund shall not be standing in the way of upgrading RIMS to the status of AIIMS, Debasish Panda, Joint Secretary (NE), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has stated while interating with the Director of RIMS Prof S Sekharjit, Heads of other Departments and representatives of important committees and the Principal in-charge of College of Nursing, RIMS Dr N Damayanti today.
Panda reminded that with the fund already sanctioned, construction works of hostels, drainage system, Out Patient Department had been started and more fund would be sanctioned for the second phase of expansion which would include construction of Administrative Block, hospital buildings, hostels, residential quarters and power supply.
He also underlined the need to evict the encroachers from the RIMS campus and construct a boundary wall.
Panda made a two-day visit to RIMS to see for himself the condition prevailing there and to monitor the progress of the ongoing construction works.
Meanwhile, Director of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Prof S Sekharjit, Medical Superintendent Prof H Shanti, Nursing Superintendent T Chinglembi and others have condoled the death of Mrs Lalnieng Sielhnam, a nursing sister in the Male surgery ward.
She passed away on March 12 afternoon.
A condolence meeting was held on Thursday in the meeting hall of the Nursing superintendent.
It was chaired by Prof H Shanti.
All those who were present in the meeting stood in one minute's silence for the peaceful rest of the departed soul.
A condolence letter was also sent to the bereaved family members, stated a press release by Media Adviser of RIMS today.
