Woman police personnel collapses due to exhaustion and lack of food

Imphal, February 12 2019:
A woman police personnel, who was deployed at Lamphel yesterday and who was again deployed at Keishampat junction today, collapsed due to exhaustion and lack of food.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, women police personnel who were deployed at Keishampat Junction as security measures for the ongoing protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016, said that they were deployed at Lamphel and stayed all night without any food.
They conveyed that they also had to brave the cold night as they did not have proper winter clothing.
The women police deployed at Keishampat junction since today's morning also included a large number of personnel who had stayed up all night at Lamphel yesterday and they failed to get any food even till 3 pm.
They said that even though they bought and ate some snacks from some of the shops which opened during the curfews, these were not enough to fill their stomachs.
As such, one of the women police personnel collapsed/fainted due to exhaustion and lack of food.
The other women police personnel deployed in the area carried the unconscious women into a shop near the road and treated the woman.
Later.
Imphal West SP instructed the lady police personnel to be transported to the district HQ.
When asked who will bring food for them, the women police personnel said that the women police OCs, told them that the Battalion have prepared their food and will be delivered to them shortly.
The then continued that even after 3 pm, their food did not arrive.
One of the woman police personnel called home to her husband add child in an attempt to forget her hunger while many were not able to sit up straight due to exhaustion and lack of food, they lamented.
Finally, three women police personnel approached a senior male police officer and complained about the lack of food to which the officer replied that the food will arrive shortly and assured that if the food does not arrive even then, he would make necessary arrangement to use his vehicle for bringing the food for the personnel.
However, the food still did not arrive, which resulted in one of the women police personnel fainting, they said.
