Manipuri novelist Binod passes away

A pioneer Manipuri writer of Assam Sanasam Binod passed away on Saturday at his residence at Karaikandi in Cachar Assam.
Sanasam Binod, who is known for his first novel 'Ibemhal', was a pioneer Manipuri novelist based outside the State.
Besides Ibemhal, he also penned many other novels, short stories and essays including Chadrakala Kalabati, Thongnang Leibakki Seirol and Khamba Thoibi, Langol etc.
He is a recipient of many distinguished literary awards such as Kamini Kumar Gold Medal by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal; Literary Pension by Assam Government; Sahitya Bhushan by Assam Manipuri Sahitya Parishad and Kshetrimayum Yaima and Thambal Devi Memorial Literary Award by Leikol, Imphal among others.
On his sudden death, many literary personalities and social activists conveyed their condolences.
He was survived by his son and a daughter.
