World Asthma Day observed

The Cipla Ltd today observed the World Asthma Day at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal under the theme 'You can control your Asthma' .
Dr Nabachandra (Padiatric), Dr Ratankumar (Pediatrict) and Dr N Tombi talked on different topics related with Asthma as resource persons.
In their speech they observed that Asthma is a persistent illness categorized by recurring attacks of breathlessness and wheezing which differ in sternness and rate of recurrence from person to person.
As per the WHO reports, around 300 million people suffers from Asthma and 225000 people died due to the disease in 2005 .
It is also the most common chronic disease among children.
Over 80 pc of asthma related death occurs in low and middle income countries, they observed.
The World Asthma Day is a yearly observation initiated by the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) to perk up asthma alertness and concern around the globe.
It takes place on the first Tuesday of May every year.
GINA toils with health care professionals and civic health officials around the world to decrease asthma incidence, morbidity and deaths.
The main purpose of observing Asthma Day is to generate knowledge of the disease, its appropriate care, defensive methods amid the general public, health care providers, employees as well as government officials.
