All Zeliangrong Students Union (AZSU) has decided to ban companies engaged in the construction of Jiribam-Tupul railway line after five days.

The Union said that since the companies failed to comply with the requests, it has taken the drastic decision to ban Simplex Infrastructures Limited, Onycon Engineers Private Limited, ECI Engineering & Construction Limited, Bharti Infrastructures Projects Limited, Sushee Infrastructures Private Limited, Apex Construction and SK Engineering & Construction India Limited from executing further works after five days of the publication of the press note issued by the student body.

AZSU in collaboration with Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur (ZSUM) had earlier conducted independent inspections at the work sites in the month of December, 2014 .
Bridges, tunnels and open space rail tracts were inspected by the student bodies.
According to AZSU, major companies engaged in the Jiri-Tupul railways construction works are Coastal Corporation Limited, Simplex Infrastructures Limited, Sushee Infrastructures Private Limited, Onycon Engineers Private Limited, ECI Engineering & Construction Limited, Bhartia Infrastructures Projects Limited, Apex Construction Limited and SK Engineering & Construction India Limited, Nayak Infrastructure Private Limited and Triveni Infratech Private Limited.
During the inspection, Simplex Infrastructures Limited, Onycon Engineers Private Limited, ECI Engineering & Construction Limited, Bharti Infrastructures Projects Limited, Sushee Infrastructures Private Limited, Apex Construction and SK Engineering & Construction India Limited were found not maintaining work quality.
The student body has also alleged that these companies used "sub-standard material components" including cheap sands, stones, iron, cement etc.
while executing the works.
"There is a tendency of fraudulent practices by many companies while inspecting the deep tunnels that the potential danger cannot be ruled out after the completion.
We felt great anxiety of fear for the passengers to travel with the sub-standard workmanship and disproportionate material components" said AZSU.
"In this concern the AZSU has submitted memos to the PMO and the Ministry of Railways, Government of India on March 2, 2015 for the urgent intervention and Vigilance/National Investigation Agency Department for conducting independent inspection on regular basis," the Union added.
AZSU warned that it will not leave any stone unturned to monitor the progress of the works so as to ensure safety of passengers along the Jiribam-Tupul Railway line in near future.
