Fake company busted, manager rounded up

Local residents of Thoubal Wangmataba Sorok Makha rounded up two salesmen and a manager of a fraud service company on January 31 .
The salesmen were trapped after ordering a product of their company by some local youths.
The fraud company which goes under the name of JAYANIRM with New Checkon, Brighter Academy road near Care foundation, Imphal as its office address conducted a survey using the name Indane on the safety standards of usage of liquefied petroleum gas (domestic LPG) in the locality from January 27 to 30 .
During the survey, they put up and demonstrated many dangerous circumstances to the people in case of carelessness in using LPG and then, they cleverly motivated the LPG customers to buy their products like LPG hose, lighter and a machine claiming to conserve 30 percent of the LPG usage.

The hose (pipe) sold by them has false ISI mark and number.
But they pasted Suraksha, a branded name of hose pipe on their imitative hose pipes.
The LPG conservation machine, which consisted of pieces of magnet implanted in a small plastic container, also have false ISI mark and number.
One Angom Jayanta of Nongpok Sekmai, who claimed himself to be the manager of the company, and was subsequently also rounded up, confessed that he pasted ISI imitating sticker and a small sticker with Indane imprint on the machine.
The fraud salesmen and the manager collected Rs 450 from a customer for the pipe, lighter and the so called energy conservation machine, although they bought the same at Rs 120 from one Tufanilal, a non-local staying at Mantripukhri and who deals in fake parts.
The pipe cost them about Rs 50, Rs 20 for the lighter 20 and Rs 50 for the machine.
During further interrogation, it also came to light that the head office of the company with the address as Dibrugarh, Assam printed on the survey sheets does not exist at all.
Before they were caught, the two salesmen and the manager have made fool of hundreds of families mostly in the valley districts including Imphal East, West and Thoubal.
Although such acts of cheating could be punished under Section 415 of IPC as well as under the provisions of Consumer Protection Act, etc, the two fraud salesmen and the manager have been reportedly set free by the local people who rounded them up after collecting all their details, cash memos and survey sheets, on the condition that they should apologize to the people of Manipur through media.
