Four die, three hurt in mishaps

Imphal, April 27 2013 :
At least four persons have died while three others sustained injuries in two road accidents which occurred in different parts of the State during the last 24 hours.
Three passengers were killed and two of them were wounded when a Truck (Shaktiman) in which they were travelling met with an accident near the 26 AR post located in Pallel along Imphal-Moreh road around 12.45 pm today.
The truck was carrying labourers and machine men from Thoubal for black topping of road stretch at Moreh Kondong Lairembi when the mishap occurred.
The truck was on its way to Moreh along with 16 labourers.
They stopped by at Kakching Lamkhai and had their lunch.
After which nine of the labourers stayed back and the remaining seven labourers went ahead for Moreh in the truck.
The manner in which the driver was driving the truck was so reckless that two of the labourers jumped down from the truck.
Soon after that the truck met with the accident in which two labourers died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Another two also sustained injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Thokchom Jugin (50), s/o Th Angou of Chingtham Maning Leikai; Sorensangbam Megha (43), s/o late S Nanao of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai Amuri Jamba Leikai and Ngangbam Sanajaoba (52), s/o late Ng Rajani of Sambram.
Thokchom Jugin and Sorensangbam Megha died on the spot while Ngangbam Sanajaoba succumbed at the hospital.
The other two persons who sustained injuries are Ratankuimar (24) and Ningthem of Andro.
The injured were treated at 26 AR unit hospital and were later taken to Imphal for further treatment.
Meanwhile, a person was killed and another injured when a motor cycle and a Tractor collided along Tentha Khongban road under Thoubal district.
The incident occurred at around 10:30 pm yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as one Ngangom Amu (20), s/o Ng Deven of Tentha Khongban while the injured as Maibam Inaocha (23), s/o M Birahari of Tentha Khunnou.
