Imphal, April 27 2013 :
Not ruling out possibility of their children deciding to join insurgent outfits, parents of two teenage girls hailing from kumbi area made a fervent appeal to all concerned, particularly armed groups, to release the girls on humanitarian ground.
It is said that whereabouts of Heisnam Subidra alias Nanao (15) d/o h Ranbir and Yumnam Kabita alias Ichal (18) d/o Y Chaoba, both from Kumbi Laingoubi under Bishnupur district, remain unknown after both left their homes at around 10.30 am of April 22 .
Speaking to media-persons at Manipur Press Club today, H Ranbir said both nanao and Kabita went out of their homes telling family members they would be purchasing school uniforms from Moirang Keithel (market) .
nanao is a class X student of Sagang High School while Kabita was supposed to appear for the matric examination last year but skipped the same.
kabita's mother Shanti, who was also present at the media briefing claimed that her daughter's diary found from under the mattress had the name Arun Mangang with a mobile phone number when family members searched for clues as their expectation that it might been a case of elopement could not be corroborated even after 24 hours of the duo's disappearance.
Referring to comments by some locals that Kabita was heard conversing on her mobile phone, she said family members decided to call the number enlisted in the girl's diary with the receiver confirming he was Arun.
As none of the family members knew Kabita's latest mobile number (SIM Card), Arun was urged to provide her contact number and was obliged.
However, Kabita could not be contacted as her phone was 'busy', recounted the mother while adding that after repeated attempts not only her daughter's phone remained in 'switch off' mode but Arun too could not be contacted.
In connection with the disappearance case a report was filed at Kumbi police station on April 23 but their whereabouts remain unknown till date, Shanti informed.
Nanao is the eldest of four sisters and a brother while Kabita is the youngest of five sisters and two brothers, informed the family members.
Meanwhile, Nanao's mother Purnimashi appealed to all UG groups to hand over the girls to their respective families if they (girls) are in the custody of any armed organisations.
Stating that she is urging the UG groups to hand over the girls taking into account plight and sentiment of both the families, Purnimashi also solicited support and effort of NGOs in tracing the missing girls.
