Cease work strike of Transport Directorate staffs spreads

Even as the cease work strike launched by the staffs of Transport Directorate has started spreading to the district level, Ottong Khongsai, General Secretary, All Manipur Transport Department Motor Vehicles Employees Union has categorically stated that the ongoing agitation would continue till their demands are met.
Reacting against the order of the State Government to bring back Shivadas Sharma as Deputy Director of Transport Directorate after he was transferred as the SDO/BDO of Chandel, the aggrieved staffs of Transport Directorate shut down the office and launched a cease work strike since April 22 .
Talking to media persons in connection with the ongoing agitation today, Ottong Khongsai pointed out that Shivadas Sharma had been the Deputy Director of Transport for about one and a half month before he got transferred as the SDO/BDO of Chandel.
But the State Government has again passed an order to make him the Deputy Director of Transport.
Though the Union has appealed to the concerned authority to review the order and to clarify on what ground Shivadas Sharma has been reinstated as the Deputy Director of Transport Department (Motor Vehicles), no positive response have been received from the side of the State Government so far.
So, the Union has been compelled step up its agitation.
Now the agitation has also spread to all the districts of the State and it will continue until their demands are fulfilled, he made it clear.
Ottong Khongsai reiterated that Shivadas Sharma has a very rough attitude as far as his dealing with his staffs is concerned and at the same time his sincerity towards the development and betterment of the transport Department is always in question.
Shivadas Sharma also misused funds meant for the development of the department and held back the funds for the employees of the directorate under ACP scheme, he charged.
