TKS, TYC against discriminatioin of hill people

The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) and Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (Tangkhul Youth Council/TYC) in a joint press statement condemns against the various discrepancy prevailing in different government departments in Ukhrul and blatant discrimination meted out to the people in the hill districts and the prolong negligence of the overall development in the district by the State government.
The joint statement further highlighting the issue of H.S.Verypam, a regularly appointed Chief Engineer (PHED) who has been attached as OSD to Commissioner (PHE) said that his case is a blatant case of racial discrimination on the part of the Congress-led SPF government.
The government has failed to initiate any action in this regard till date.
"We consider this act on the part of the government as a total defiance, for which we will no longer tolerate and be compelled to react" .
The statement further said that the Ukhrul District Hospital has been in a deplorable condition for years.
The understaffed hospital is running with only 12 doctors of the 32 required, and only 14 nurses of the 29.It also lacks mandatory equipments like Ultra Sound, X- ray machine and first aid kits.
Besides, the CD 4 Count machine has been lying non-functional due to non-availability of a technician.
