Imphal, August 18, 2012:
While reacting to an editorial of a local daily published in Imphal, the proscribed revolutionary organisation PREPAK (Pro) stated that with all the issues and problems happening in the state since the forced merger of Manipur into the Indian Union, Manipur has no reason to participate in celebrating the Independence Day of India In a statement signed by its Assistant Secretary of Publicity and Propaganda Sunil, PREPAK (Pro) said that the editorial which lamented over non participation of people in the Independence Day Celebration depicted the mentality of an agent of Indian Union.
While questioning the foundation of India towards making a Union through force merger of various small kingdoms, PREPAK (Pro) alleged that not everyone in the country is getting the assured political rights in the Indian Constitution.
The call for public participation in making India a developed country is a meaningless appeal.
Manipur can cooperate with India only after it gets itself free from the Indian rule and becomes a sovereign country.
Quoting RH Tawney's "Freedom for pikes is death for minnows", the statement further asserted that the freedom of India caused the lost of freedom of many smaller kingdoms and nations that used to flourished at one time.
The freedom of India has also violated the rights of many small communities and poor people and pure example of this is the Maoist struggle in the heart of the country, separatist movements in Kashmir and North Eastern States.
At present one third of the total MPs in Indian Parliament has criminal cases pending against them and 67 percent of the total MLAs of Uttar Pradesh are crorepatis.
Discrimination, corruptions and superstitions have always been part of the country.
Hoping for development of the state in a country where corruption and discrimination are high is nothing but a vain hope, it added.
Former Prime Minister of Great Britain, Churchill had already noted that India would not be able to become an independent country as the leaders of the country do not have the backbone to make India a united and independent country, the statement said, adding that India will never become a truly united country regardless of the outer appearances of unity.
In such situation, dreaming for a developed Manipur with the help India is futile.
On the other hand, India also will never become a developed country until and unless it abolishes the corruption and discrimination which is taking the centre stage in the administration of the country.
After the forced merger of Manipur into the Indian Union, people of the state have been living an uncertain life.
Singing Jana Gana Mana would never bring justice to the people of the state nor help in repealing AFSPA from the state.
Besides, one may get assaulted or criticised for singing the national anthem.
Keeping all these in view, participating in the Independence Day of India and celebrating it by the people of the state would be a meaningless task, the statement added.
