Doctor, nurse in viral PPE suit scuffle patch up

Imphal, June 15 2021:
An understanding has been reached regarding the June 10 evening incident at JNIMS Covid ward wherein a doctor manhandled a nurse.
A per information received here, family members of both the doctor and the victim nurse held talks at the office of JNIMS director on Monday and both the sides reached an understanding.
Both the parties also agreed not to have enmity and amicably reached an understanding.
However, suspension order of the involved doctor is yet to be revoked.
Mention may be made that following a complaint lodged by JNIMS nursing community against one Dr Pangambam Bohnson, the state health authority had placed the doctor under suspension pending enquiry.
The order issued by principal secretary of Health and Family Welfare V Vumlunmang, who is also the chairman of EC JNIMS Society, in an order asked Dr Bohnson not to leave the headquarters without prior permission of JNIMS authority.
In condemnation of the assault, JNIMS nurses launched impromptu protest in front the director's office and demanded thorough investigation so as the initiate punitive action against the guilty person(s).
The incident was captured on CCTV and later the footage of the scuffle purportedly of the nurse and the doctor as well as another person, all in PPE suits, went viral on the social media.
JNIMS director Prof Th Bhimo Singh had also instructed the medical superintendent, doctors in charge of COVID-19 ward 3 and other officials to hold an inquiry into the matter and submit a report.
However, the findings of the enquiry, if any, cannot be accessed by this daily.
