Unidentified miscreants set ablaze the office of the YAS Directorate inside the Khuman Lampak Sport Complex, resulting in major damages to office documents and
two vehicles.
The fire broke out around 10 am and the director was in his office chamber at the time of the incident.
According to chowkidar, L Satramani, some unidentified persons came and set afire the office.
However, staff members suspect the fire to have originated from a room next to the driver's room at the ground floor where a power generator is kept.

Fire fighters of the Imphal Fire Service Station took about two hours to douse the fire.
The fire was put under control around noon.
In the fire most of the office documents and files stored in the adjoining rooms of the generator were reduced to ashes apart from damages caused to dossiers, files and other documents related with sportspersons.
Two vehicles, both of the Bolero brand belonging to the department, MN01-W/1525 and MN06L-1867 were damaged by the fire.
YAS director Longjam Jayenta said that he was in his room when he saw smoke rising from the ground floor.
He immediately rang up the fire service station.
