Imphal, April 29 2013:
The CPI Manipur State Committee has demanded that the Government unmask the identities of the police officers who were caught along with huge amount of drugs near Pallel PS yesterday.
Speaking to media persons today at Irawat Bhawan, secretary of CPI Manipur State Council, Dr M Nara said it was very unfortunate that even police officers have involved in drug smuggling.
Taking a dig at the Government for its alleged scandalous manipulation of power, Dr Nara categorically demanded that the Govt should not shield the police officers involved in the drug smuggling case and rather should reveal the identities of the officers involved in it.
He asserted that the involvement of some police men in criminal activities casts the department in bad light while also lauding the efforts of Thoubal district police in seizing the drugs.
On the appointment of Chief Secretary, Dr Nara demanded that the senior most officer be appointed as the next CS.
The CPI also welcomed the action initiated by Election Commission of India against the MLA of Moirang AC for giving false affidavit to the commission.
Dr Nara said the MLA is punishable under Article 125 A of Peoples Representation Act, 1951 .
