Imphal, May 26 2015 :
The incumbent Congress Government would not give away an inch of Manipur's territory to Nagaland or any other State or country, Gaikhangam stated referring to the reports of incursion in Dzuko Valley by Nagaland.
As the dispute is over inter-State boundary, the State Government has been keeping in touch with the Government of India to settle the row for good, Gaikhangam stated at a district level Congress workers conference held today at Wunghon, Ukhrul district.
He then questioned the silence of the UNC and the NPF who, according to him, have been projecting themselves as protectors of Nagas and their land.
Those elements who relinquished Manipuri citizens by replacing the 'Welcome to Manipur' banner by 'Welcome to Nagaland' banner should have the guts to approach NPF Nagaland to stop the incursion.
He also questioned the inability of both NPF and UNC who have been projecting themselves as champions of Naga people to say a single word against the incursion in Dzuko valley.
Their perception of the whole matter is more akin to the proverbial saying "The pasture is greener on the other side of the fence", Gaikhangam asserted.
Once, Vajpayee-led NDA Government dreamed of an 'India Shining' but it could not last long and sank.
In a similar picture today, PM Narendra Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre is dreaming of 'Acche Din' (which can be loosely translated as Good Days for the country), and this time again, the Government will sink, asserted Chief Minister Okram Ibobi who also addressed the political conference.
Ibobi further said India, today, has become a powerful country by dint of the 60-year long rule of the Congress.
He also asked where have the so-called dreams and visions of Modi-Government gone and added that nothing can be seen even after one year of its rule.
Transfer of power to local bodies was made possible during the time of Rajiv Gandhi.
Whatever infrastructures that the State is seeing and having today are all because of the Congress Government, and no BJP Union Minister has so far brought any development project to the State, except attending mere inauguration functions and foundation stone laying events.
Taking a dig at the State BJP president, CM Ibobi further said that it is indeed very shameful for State president Th Chaoba to share dais with Union Ministers in State functions.
He added that Union Ministers, irrespective of their parties, represent the hopes and aspirations of all the Indian people.
Moreover, Union Ministers usually don't visit State party offices, however, the Union Ministers visiting the State always visit the State BJP office, thereby turning the office into BJP Union Ministers' office.
Ibobi termed such desperate acts as embarrassing and pitiful.
Ibobi took one step further and said that there are many development projects to be inaugurated in the State, and if any Union Minister wants to attend such events, the State Government will happily invite them.
On the other hand, Ibobi said that it's an open secret that NPF is a sponsored party, but better late than never, it is encouraging for the party to finally learn that there is no place for violence in democracy.
However, he appealed NPF to fight the election in a peaceful and transparent manner.
Since BJP has violated code of conduct, Ibobi said that he can also do the same and announced that his Government will bestow the best-possible power to ADCs and assured that no shortage of funds will be there again.
